You Are a Leader

Hello friend,

You are a leader.

If you are a woman, you are called to be a mother.

Not always a birth mother—but always a mother in some form:

  • a birth mother

  • a foster mother

  • an adoptive mother

  • a stepmother

  • a godmother

  • a teacher or mentor

  • a grandmother

  • an aunt

  • a spiritual mother

And if you are a mother, you are a leader.

A leader to those entrusted to you—whether they are your children, your students, or the souls placed quietly in your care.

So let me ask you:

Do you live like a leader?

This week, I've been asking myself, "do I live like the leader God is calling me to be in my family? Or do I live like a manager—managing schedules, chores, carpools, and meals?"

Those things matter. They are real work.

But how we see ourselves—how we understand our role in our family and in the world—matters just as much, if not more. Because it is the foundation beneath everything else.

As women entrusted with lives, hearts, and souls, we are not called merely to manage.

We are called to lead.

And leadership means inspiration.

You may not feel like a leader.

Maybe you are quiet. An introvert.

Maybe you see yourself as second—to your husband, your boss, the louder voices around you—so you defer, default, and quietly step aside.

Yes, we entrust our husbands with leadership in their proper role.

But even as helper, partner, or supporter, we are still called to lead.

Leadership requires stepping in and stepping up.

Not skirting responsibility, but leaning in and asking:

What do my children need from me? Who is God asking me to become for them, for my community, and for Him?

To lead well, we must be fully formed as women of God.

We must have the discipline to say yes when yes is required,

the courage to say no when no is required,

and the wisdom to know the difference.

I have not always seen myself as a leader.

I have seen myself as a student, a designer, a daughter, a wife, a mother—maybe a writer, sometimes a disciple.

But a leader?

It is only in recent years, as my faith has deepened, that I have understood this call—not abstractly, but personally.

Leadership is my call.

And likely, yours too.

Leadership does not always mean standing on a stage or organizing events at church (though sometimes it does).

Often it means listening closely to that quiet tug in your heart—where the Holy Spirit is asking you to speak, to move, to act, or simply to become.

It likely means becoming the woman God is calling you to be so that your children are drawn—not pushed—but attracted to the Church, and ultimately to Christ Himself.

It may mean surrendering vices and cultivating virtue.

Educating yourself.

Living intentionally, so no opportunities are wasted.

You are a leader.

You know it in your heart.

Do you feel it?

And now that you do—

what will you do about it?

Love and prayers,

Verity
