The Book Lodge App is Coming to Life!

I don’t know how it is Wednesday again already. It feels as though I just wrote to you about being tired.
I am happy to say that after a weekend away with my family, I am feeling refreshed. My spirit is renewed, and I am back at home doing what I love: spending time with my children, building things, writing things, and being present in the moment.
Today, I am thrilled because the app that I mentioned is actually taking shape! What began as a seed of an idea a year and a half ago is on its way to becoming a reality.
Entering the world of publishing at the age of 35 felt like jumping into the deep end when I only knew how to doggy paddle. When I wrote my first novel, I had no idea I would write another, and then a book study, and then a children’s book. I didn’t know what it would take to bring a story from manuscript to published work — and then face the massive task of making it known to the community it was meant to serve.
I had no idea it would require formatting skills, cover design skills, the ability to write a compelling blurb, build a website, cultivate a community on social media, and commit to a newsletter.
I don’t think most writers start off with the desire to be and do all those things.
But that is what is required of a writer in today’s world.
So, after going through the publishing process three times, I began to dream of a better way.
The Book Lodge will be that better way.
It will be a home for writers, readers, and industry professionals. It will make the writing journey less lonely, more encouraging, and more effective. My dream is that The Book Lodge will be a place where writers find solace, and where good, true, and beautiful work can thrive.
It may sound strange that I am focusing on something like this when I have books to write (which I am still actively working on, by the way! 😉). But to me, all of the work I do is part of the same sculpture. It is a three-dimensional mission, and it must be approached from all sides.
I am seeing God provide the tools exactly when I most need them.
Where are you seeing God working in your life, friend? What are you working on? And where do you find hope and solace? Email me and let me know.
Love and prayers,
Verity
