I'm Hungry. Are you?

Hello friends,

Last week, some beautiful ladies and I hosted our church’s first annual Ladies Christmas Tea.

Seventy women — from ages six to seventy — gathered together to rest in the Lord and in each other’s company.

Picture nine tables of eight, each decorated and plated by a generous host, differing as much in flavor and flair as the women present. Gentle music. Chatter and laughter. Clinking teacups. Smiles from one end of the room to the next.

It was so beautiful.

After snacks and fellowship, we moved into the church and united in prayer. Our spirits were lifted by song as we prayed for one another’s intentions.

As we ended the evening singing Silent Night, I felt a palpable peace.

And I don’t think I was the only one.

As we began gathering our things, I heard the women say:

“So… see you next week? ;) ”

“What a turnout!”

“Can this be monthly?”

“This has been so beautiful! It was just what I needed!”

“Will there be an Easter Tea?”

What I heard (despite the plentiful snacks 😉) was this:

“I’m still hungry.”

We are hungry.

We women (even the ones who, on the outside, seem to have it together) are starving.

We’re starving for connection.

For mentorship.

For honest testimony.

For faith-filled friendships.

For spiritual direction.

We’re hungry for time with one another. And time with the Lord.

During the evening, we had the opportunity to share anonymous prayer intentions, which we offered to the Lord as gifts. It is a privilege to pray earnestly for one another. Our struggles bear so much fruit when we offer them to Him in prayer.

I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to pray with and for such an incredible group of women. And I am honored to continue praying for each and every one of them.

That night, we brought what we had.

Spiritually, by sharing our hearts.

Physically, by sharing sustenance.

That night, we were present to one another.

I’m not sure how, but I know that I don’t want that evening to end. I want to continue what we’ve started.

My hope and prayer is that we will all find the nourishment we crave — in our families, in our friendships, and in the Lord.

Please pray for me. And know that I will be praying for you.

In His name,

Verity
